Bio Artammon

Jean-Michel Ammon, (Artammon) was born in Lausanne (Switzerland) on 25 0ctober 1956. Since he was a child he has been interested in music, and he started playing the guitar at age 14. In 1996 he started studying music again at 40, at Ribeaupierre Institute in Lausanne. M. Metianu, a well known composer, was his teacher. His teachings played a crucial role in Jean-Michel Ammon’s advancement. They open doors for his perceptions and, ultimately, for his creativy. For his final exam, he presented a study called « Constat d’énergie du Quator à cordes opus 74 de Beethoven» that obtained the grade of 10 out of 10, given by Henri Scolari, an expert at Conservatory of Lausanne.
He started to compose music in 2008, and in 2014 he was selected to play his music in the festival « Digitales » taking place outdoors in many parks of Swiss cities. Many of the sounds you can ear in these compositions are recorded out from reality (real birds such as common nightingale, song trush ; from frogs, car sounds etc.) and express his concern about the degeneration of the contaminated nature and bestiality indwelling. But also you can feel a touch of humour, because his motto was : « humour is the politeness of despair.»

He died in Lausanne on 25 February 2019. He left behind a legacy of 25 amazing pieces of music, many photographies, and 200 collages , part of them presented in this site.
Enjoy !
